Durrill
v. Ford Motor Company
Case
Summary: Two women travelling in a Ford Mustang II were rear-ended
by a drunk driver. The car¹s gas tank exploded upon impact, resulting
in fatal injuries to one of the passengers. The outcome of this
case forced major auto makers to redesign car and truck fuel systems,
saving countless lives all over the world. Part of the proceeds
from this settlement was placed in a foundation that continues today
to support charitable projects in Corpus Christi, Texas.

Harper
v. General Motors
Case
Summary: Jerry Harper was involved in a head-on collision while
driving his 1990 GM Chevrolet pick-up truck. Because the truck was
not equipped with head restraints, he was left a quadriplegic and
eventually died as the result of the accident. The plaintiffs and
their law firm offered to forego punitive damages if General Motors
would recall and fix the defective trucks. General Motors declined
and, to date, has not accepted the offer.
Communications
Strategy
The
two cases share a television commercial, radio spot, billboard and
newspaper advertisement. By combining the cases, we were able to
create a stronger, more impactful cross-media campaign.
